Lighting Decor II

Outside lighting should never be overlooked. By changing out the lights, your entire home will look different, for the better. Let us start by talking about landscape lighting. If you have put in the effort to have a beautiful yard with flowers and bushes, you want to show those off even at night. Consider the following tips to get you started:

You can use security lighting for safety but also for enhancing the home. For instance, lights that are staggered up the walkway create a dramatic entrance while making sure you do not miss your step.

Install low-wattage lighting underneath shrubs, around flowers, and near trees. The look is amazing and the effect does not cost much.

Choose two or three specific areas that you would like to enhance and then create your lighting around those areas. It might be that you have beautiful rose bushes set in one corner of the front yard. While they create beauty during the day, by adding lighting that will make them shine at night, you can show them off even when the sun sets.

Floodlights are another great way to enhance a large areas such as a gazebo, swimming pool or Jacuzzi, or even a garden pond

Wall lighting is also an excellent option that will illuminate a walkway, or a wall that has grape vines or Honeysuckle vines

If you have statues, birdbaths, or other types of landscape features, you can use lighting to enhance them

Utility lights are also great to create a new look for the exterior of your home. With some simple guidelines, you can create a completely different look.

For both safety and as a way of saving energy, you might think about having a quartz halogen motion light instaled in the back or front portion of the home.

Be sure you choose lighting that is great for protection but that serves a dual purpose of highlighting plants, flowers, or statues

With the motion light, you can choose to have this connected to an indoor alarm system so you know if someone is messing around the house while sleeping

Be sure the light bulbs are positioned correctly so they do not cause problems with triggering a false alarm. For example, if you were going to use lighting to enhance your swimming pool, Jacuzzi, trees, and so on, could be reflective, thus causing the light to go on and off unnecessarily.

You will find that motion detectors and other types of lighting come in a number of styles, sizes and shapes so no matter what the outside décor or landscaping; there will be multiple options from which to choose.
